How To Write Ad Headlines That Get Attention

The purpose of your advertising is very simple. Draw people
toward your web site. The first contact you have with others
is your ad's headline. It must be attention grabbing.
Here's some quick tips you can use to maximize the
effectiveness of your advertising headline.
TIP #1 Name and a Want
Who are you trying to reach with your ad? Put a name to
them. In terms of what these people want, what does your
product provide for them? Ask them about it.
Now put those two elements together.
Examples:
"Publishers! Want More Money From Your Ezine?"
"Home Marketers! Need More Results From Your Promotion?"
"Computer Owners! Is Your PC Running At Full Speed?"
This immediately zeros in on your target market. You don't
need to catch the attention of those who don't want your
product. Focus your headline on catching the attention of
those who do!
TIP # 2 Use Active and Descriptive Words
Sometimes it's hard to put an exact name to who you want to
attract with your ad. Or maybe that name is not an attractive
one. In that case, use words that are active and descriptive
of the benefit you are providing with your product and let
readers catch on those words instead of a name.
Examples:
"Lightning Quick Weight Loss Plan Unveiled!"
"Hot Techniques That Instantly Double Your Traffic!"
"Revealing Document Exposes Millionaire's Secrets!"
TIP # 3 The Old Standby
Sometimes a proven technique is simply the best for the
situation. In that case, use a variation of the following
formula.
"How To ______ And Get _________"
Examples:
"How To Work Less And Make More"
Or with a little embellishment:
"Discover How To Work Less Yet Still Make More!"
A terrific, attention grabbing headline does take a little
time and some work, but it's worth it. Use these tips next
time you are formatting your ads and watch your results improve.
